  • The most loving parents and relatives commit murder with smiles on their faces. They force us to destroy the person we really are. .--Jim Morrison

There is so much information out there and it can be so time consuming trying to find it. Coaches don’t have time to read blogs, and other material that can provide some really great information. Our journal allows them to get the information they need without having to waste time searching for it. I believe the top people in any profession never stop learning and that is the main objective of this journal, provide coaches and leaders the means to learn without having to waste their valuable time.

Tough Thoughts

  • Toughness is I’m not going to lose sight of what I want to do by what you do or by outside influences.
  • Most coaches will take true toughness over talent any day. Toughness wins.
  • A players who bends without breaking and bounces back up will prevail over the player who is resistant to bending under pressure but will break with enough force.
  • Toughness has no relationship to how nice a person is.
  • There is no reason you can’t be nice and incredibly tough at the same time.
  • When you combine talent and toughness you have an unbeatable combination.
  • There are a lot of fake people--those who talk about buying in but never really do.
  • Toughness is speaking up with things are not right.
  • Toughness isn’t about trying to talk & intimidate. It’s about meeting challenges head-on and not shrinking from them.

Responsibility, Planning & Control

  • Most people prefer to hand over responsibility for themselves to other people so that they can blame someone else if something goes wrong.
  • When you make a plan and set a goal, your life tends to move towards that point. You become very focused on what you’re trying to achieve and life does too. What happens in this global attempt to reach your goal is that you block out all the other possibilities.
  • However, sometimes the problem with a plan is that you fill up the blank page of a new day with a to-do list before you get there. And if you’re not careful there’s no room for anything else.
  • The moment you stop trying to control and make things happen, everything just happens quite perfectly without you.

Surround Yourself With Dreamers and Doers

If you’re only surrounded by safe, conservative people--and you care what they think--you are unlikely to move beyond the safe, conservative boundaries they place on their own lives. No matter how you feel--no matter what your desires--you will feel blind fear at the thought of doing things that upset those people around you. Surround yourself with people who believe in expansion, growth and movement. Seek out people who dare to have big dreams.
