Finding Your Purpose

The following is from the book Coach Yourself.

Inner peace comes from living your life on purpose. Your life’s purpose comes from what you most value. It should not be decided upon by someone else. It is not a list of things you think you must achieve. Rather it is a feeling that what you do matters. Your purpose is the way you live your life that brings you the most peace. Here are some thoughts to help you find your true purpose.
  • What we must decide is perhaps how we are valuable, rather than how valuable we are.
--F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • This is our purpose: to make as meaningful as possible this life that has been bestowed upon us; to live in such a way that we may be proud of ourselves; to act in such a way that some part of us lives on.
--Oswald Spengler
  • Live for something--Do good, and leave behind you a monument of virtue that the storms of time can never destroy.
--Thomas Chalmers
  • There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.
--Martha Graham
  • There are periods when to dare, is the highest wisdom.
--William Ellery Channing
  • The secret of living is to find the pivot of a concept on which you can make your stand.
 --Luigi Pirandello
  • Learning is discovering that something is possible.
--Fritz Perls
  • Remove every barrier you can to fandom. A fan will be an evangelist for your work.
--Dave Kellett
  • The need for change bulldozed a road down the center of my mind.
--Maya Angelou
  • Bring ideas in and entertain them royally, for one of them may be the king.
--Mark Van Doren
  • Miracles happen when you don't plan in advance. If you dot all your i's and cross all your t's then you will find no miracles.
--Satish Kumar
  • Don't join the book burners. Don't think you're going to conceal faults by concealing evidence that they say ever existed. Don't be afraid to go in your library and read every book.
--Dwight D. Eisenhower
  • If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves.
--Maria Edgeworth
  • Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith.
--Saint Francis of Assisi
  • To be free is to have achieved your life.
--Tennessee Williams
