Meet Peter McGahey--A CLJournal Subscriber



Peter McGahey was named the fifth head coach in Central Michigan women's soccer history on Jan. 9, 2013. McGahey has built a solid program during his time at the helm. This year he led the Chippewas to the best start in program history winning their first 8 games. The 2016 team finished with  15-3-3 record.

Before becoming Central Michigan's head coach, McGahey, the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Coach of the Year. He had unprecedented success at the helm of Minnesota State over five seasons (2008-12), compiling a record of 74-21-13 (.755 winning percentage) while leading the Mavericks to four appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. His squad finished with a program-best 17-1-5 record in 2012, going 14-0-1 to capture its first NSIC regular season championship and become the first team to finish unbeaten in NSIC play since 2008. The Mavericks also claimed their first-ever Central Regional Championship last season, advancing further in the NCAA Tournament than any other team in program history.

He served as the State Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Oklahoma Soccer Association from August 2001 to August 2005, leading the technical programs for approximately 40,000 youth players. His work with the youth gained him the knowledge to a write The Soccer Coach's Guide to Working with Players and Parents which was published in 2004.
